Thuringia: Record temperatures at the end of October in Thuringia

Erfurt (dpa/th) - The temperatures in Thuringia climb to unusual heights at the end of the month. Record values for October 29 were measured almost everywhere, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced on Saturday. At the top was Schwarzburg (Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district) with 22 degrees, closely followed by Starkenberg-Tegkwitz (Altenburgkreis) with 21.9 degrees and Martinroda (Ilmkreis) with 21.8 degrees. So far, the highest temperature measured on October 29, according to DWD records, was 20.2 degrees in Jena in 1908.

On Sunday, however, the temperatures should be topped again, as a spokesman for the DWD announced. According to the DWD, a pleasantly warm 24 degrees with lots of sun was expected. This attracts many people to stroll through the autumnally colored parks and forests.

However, the record for the warmest day in October was not broken this year. It was set up in 1985 at 29 degrees.
