Weimar (dpa/th) - A constitutional complaint by the FDP politician Thomas Kemmerich will be heard today at the constitutional court in Weimar. The background is Kemmerich's loss of the Erfurt city council mandate because his family's residence is in Weimar. Kemmerich, who is also spokesman for the FDP group in the state parliament and party chairman, wants an examination of whether the principle of equal treatment was disregarded in his case.
Kemmerich told the dpa that it is not about getting his city council mandate back in Erfurt, where he works and has his main residence, but about having fundamental questions about the place of residence clarified. A verdict is not expected until the coming weeks.
