Thuringia: Successor to the 9-euro ticket in Thuringia not in sight

Erfurt (dpa/th) - In Thuringia, for the time being, no successor regulation for the 9-euro ticket, which expires at the end of the month, is in sight. That said the State Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Barbara Schönig, on Tuesday in Erfurt. From the point of view of the Ministry, the continuation of such an offer would be desirable. Due to a lack of funds, the state government currently has to limit itself to strengthening local transport in general.

The EUR 9 ticket cost EUR 12 million per month during its period of validity. Extrapolated for the year, 144 million would be necessary based on the current cost situation. Even if the federal government were to contribute half, the Free State would still have to bear around 75 million. This cannot be done without further regionalization funds from the federal government.
