Erfurt (dpa/th) - The number of new corona infections in Thuringia continued to fall in the last week of the holiday. Since August 17, 4,226 people have been proven to have been infected with the virus within a week, according to the weekly report by the Thuringian Ministry of Health on Thursday. The downward trend since the end of July has thus continued. However, since mid-August it has been very low, with around 290 fewer cases than in the week before, according to the report.
Thuringia is still one of the federal states with the lowest seven-day incidence. The value is 185 make 204 the week before. The number of new infections per 1000 inhabitants has fallen further in the past seven days in 14 districts and 3 independent cities. The district-free city of Weimar had the highest seven-day incidence with a value of 264. The lowest value was 100 in the district of Greiz.
The ministry pointed out that the number of PCR tests in Thuringia has fallen sharply since the end of March 2022. This should be taken into account when evaluating the data.
