Erfurt (dpa/th) - After a corona-related slump in the previous year, the Thuringian construction industry remains on a recovery course. In the first five months of the year, the main construction trades generated sales of 834.3 million euros, as reported by the State Statistical Office in Erfurt on Wednesday. That was 119.6 million euros or 16.7 percent more than in the same period of the previous year.
The industry also recorded a strong increase in incoming orders. With a volume of EUR 999.2 million, orders increased by 15.1 percent compared to the first five months of the previous year. With 517.2 million euros, public and road construction received the highest order intake in terms of value and percentage. They exceeded the previous year by 91.1 million euros (plus 21.4 percent).
