Thuringia: Warning strikes by IG Metall in other Thuringian companies

Saalfeld/Jena (dpa/th) - In the nationwide wage dispute in the metal and electrical industry, IG Metall continued its warning strikes in Thuringia on Monday. In the morning, around 170 employees on the early shift at medical technology manufacturer Trumpf temporarily went on strike in Saalfeld, as a union spokesman said. The union also called for a warning strike on Monday at medical technology and technology companies in Jena.

The union demands eight percent more money for a term of twelve months. A few days ago, the employers made an offer that included a tax-free inflation compensation premium of 3,000 euros. They only promised a percentage increase in salaries. However, the union insists on it and demands a new offer. She has announced that the warning strikes will be extended further. According to IG Metall, around 5,500 employees from 47 companies have taken part in the warning strikes since the warning strikes began in Thuringia at the beginning of the month.
