A 13-year-old boy has become a hero after stopping his school bus when he saw that the driver had lost consciousness.

Dillon Reeves, a seventh grader, is now being hailed in Michigan for immediately taking command of the vehicle, avoiding an accident that could have harmed his classmates.

According to official sources, the school bus driver began to feel "some dizziness" and alerted the "operational base" that she was not feeling well and that she was going to stop so that the transportation department could send someone to relieve her.

However, he did not arrive on time and ended up passing out, leaving the bus running and drifting. That's when Reeves, who was sitting in the fifth row, "jumped out of his seat, tossed his backpack, and took control of the vehicle to stop it in the middle of the road."

After this act, Reeves was not slow to worry about the state of the driver's health, who was sitting in the pilot's seat, still unconscious: "Someone call 911!"

"He had the means to slowly slow it down, taking advantage of the fact that the bus was full of passengers," explained Warren Consolidated Schools Superintendent Robert D. Livernois.

The driver, for her part, is "stable", remains in a hospital and is still undergoing tests and observation.

Little Dillon's parents say they feel "very proud" of him after a heroism that "simply fills his heart."
