This Saturday, February 25, the polar cold will continue in Madrid with minimum temperatures of up to -6 degrees Celsius in the mountains, and minimum temperatures below zero throughout the region, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

Low temperatures produced by a mass of cold and unstable air that will bring cloudiness and precipitation and that, in general, will leave winter and unpleasant weather both on the Peninsula and in the Balearic Islands.

Thus, it will rain all day in the area of ​​the Strait and there will also be rainfall of different intensity, which can be snow, in the rest of the southern half, the northwest quadrant, the Pyrenean area and the Balearic and Canary archipelagos.

The snow levels will be from 1,400 to 1,800 meters in the Balearic Islands, going down to between 600 and 900 meters; in Catalonia, from 900 to 1,000 meters down to between 700 and 800 meters; in the extreme south of the peninsula, from 1,000 to 1,300 meters; in the rest of the southern half, from 700 to 900 meters; and in the rest of the Peninsula, from 500 to 800 meters.

There will be widespread frosts, which may be strong in the mountains of the center and north of the peninsula, with intervals of strong wind from the north in the Ampurdán and from the west in the area of ​​Alborán, from the west or northwest in the eastern third of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands and loose variables. in general in the rest of the Peninsula and in the Canary Islands.

Likewise, AEMET reports that the maximum temperatures will drop in the Balearic Islands, the northeast of Catalonia and the interior of the southern half of the peninsula, and will rise on the Levantine coast, the upper Ebro and the north of Galicia, while the minimum will tend to rise in the western third of the peninsula.

In addition, on Sunday afternoon a very cold air mass will enter the northeast of the peninsula that will cause an even more significant drop in temperatures during the first part of the week. As of Wednesday, said mass will begin to withdraw and there will be a gradual recovery in temperatures.
