The Ukrainian Presidency has harshly criticized the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for "promoting war, murder and destruction" by reinstating the Russian team in international competitions despite its military campaign in Ukraine.

"The IOC is a promoter of war, murder and destruction. The IOC watches with pleasure as Russia destroys Ukraine and then offers it a platform to promote genocide and encourages its further killings," Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser, wrote on Monday. of the Ukrainian Presidency, on Twitter.

Podolyak adds: "Obviously, the Russian money that Olympic hypocrisy buys doesn't smell of Ukrainian blood, does it, Mr. Bach?"

The presidential adviser has charged against the IOC secretary general, Thomas Bach, after said reinstatement, which was supported by the French authorities and even by the United States Olympic Committee.

Last Saturday, the Ukrainian president, Volodímir Zelenski, already rejected the IOC's decision. "Olympic principles and war are fundamental opposites. Russia must stop aggression and terror and only then will it be possible to talk about Russian participation in the context of the Olympic movement," the president wrote on his Telegram channel.

The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) has supported the IOC statement, which recommends the readmission of Russian and Belarusian athletes under a neutral flag and if they have not "actively" supported the war in Ukraine.

Paradoxically, some in Russia have already spoken out against accepting the IOC's conditions and advocate a boycott of the Paris Games, which was openly rejected on Monday by the Russian Olympic Committee.
