Reform of the law The PSOE says that Montero's "iron" and "fiery" defense of the Law 'only yes is yes' has not contributed to the agreement

The deputy and secretary of Equality of the PSOE, Andrea Fernández, has assured that the "iron" and "fire" of the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, of the Law of the 'only yes is yes' "has contributed to making it difficult to achieve an agreement".

In an interview with RNE, Fernández pointed out that "the most important thing" about the reform "are the victims" and that the text "go ahead" to "correct the damage that it has caused" and that "you can go ahead" with what which the Socialists consider "a good law".

Fernández has assured that in their formation they are "open to the parliamentary pact" so that this initiative goes ahead "beyond logic" and, for this reason, as he explained, they have been talking with "all parliamentary groups" in the face of the debate that will take place this Tuesday in Congress for the consideration of the text.

Regarding the decision of United We Can to vote against the reform if there is no agreement with the PSOE, the Socialist Equality Secretary points out that she "understands their decision" but "does not share their position." As she has explained, the PSOE reform proposal "abundes women's rights and guarantees" so they do not agree with the position of their government partner.

In the same way, Fernández sees it as "desirable" that parties like ERC or Eh Bildu, which in their day supported the law, now also seek the reform and solve its unwanted effects. Even so, the Catalan separatists have subordinated their support to that of the Ministry of Equality.

And, in this sense, the PSOE deputy has called for "seriousness and rigor" in the face of a reform "as important" as that of the Penal Code. In fact, in her speech, she called for keeping "rigor in mind" and described seriousness as "the fundamental ingredient when negotiating", as opposed to "exchanging or transferring positions".

Fernández has insisted that the socialist proposal does not mean a return to the previous Criminal Code because, as he has indicated, "the definition" of consent "does not touch". It does change, as he has indicated, "the forks of sorrows."
