Due to bad weather conditions, there is an accident with a total of twelve cars near Bad Sobernheim. Several occupants were taken to the hospital with some serious injuries.
In an accident involving a total of twelve vehicles, ten people were injured on Thursday evening in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate, three of them seriously. The seriously injured are not in danger of life, the police said. Some of the seriously injured were taken to hospitals by rescue helicopter.
According to the investigation, there was a rear-end collision between two cars on a crest of the federal highway 41 due to low sun, drizzle and insufficient safety distance. Eight vehicles then also crashed into each other. According to the information, two other cars then collided because of the slow traffic. The accident stretched over several hundred meters.
The scene of the accident had to be closed completely during the rescue and clean-up work. The police estimate the total damage at around 250,000 euros. The public prosecutor's office in Bad Kreuznach commissioned a traffic expert to determine the cause of the accident.
