Injured and millions in damage: Wedding party turns into an inferno

On the premises of a tire dealer, a wedding party actually wants to celebrate the most beautiful day in their lives - complete with DJ Ötzi and fireworks. But the evening ends in an inferno. Almost 400 firefighters from four districts are on duty, five people are injured.

Five people were slightly injured in a major fire on the premises of a tire dealer in Gammertingen in Baden-Württemberg. "The damage caused cannot yet be precisely quantified, but it is estimated at several million euros," said the police.

According to a spokesman, investigators are checking whether wedding fireworks could be related to the inferno. As the "Schwäbische Zeitung" reported online, the company owner celebrated his wedding on Saturday evening.

The singer DJ Ötzi also performed there. Around 11:30 p.m., the first reports of a fire on the company premises were received. At the top, 380 firefighters from four districts were deployed, said a spokesman for the Sigmaringen district fire brigade association.

Burning tires, parts of a warehouse, vehicles and gas bottles went up in flames. Four of the injured were taken to the hospital with suspected smoke inhalation. Another person suffered lacerations in a fall.
