Television RTVE reveals what each Cover Night gala costs

Cover Night is one of La 1's entertainment bets in 2023. The musical 'talent show' premiered in 'prime time' last Thursday, March 2, but moved to Saturdays after two installments and a notable drop in audience .

RTVE has revealed the cost of the format. According to El Confi TV, the public entity agreed with the producer Shine Iberia to record 12 galas. Each one costs 650,000 euros. The total budget for the program is 7.8 million euros, a figure that rises to 9.4 million euros taking VAT into account.

The aforementioned medium concludes that it is "one of the most expensive formats" that La 1 currently has on its grid. In addition, compare these data with those of the chain's previous musical contest, Incredible Duos, broadcast in 2022.

The space run by Juan y Medio was more expensive. As revealed exclusively by Vertele, it had a total budget of 9 million euros, an amount that with VAT amounts to 10.9 million. Each of its 12 galas cost 753,000 euros.

Confi TV is considering the possibility that RTVE cancels Cover Night due to its audience figures. As explained by the medium, the goal of the format was to exceed the average share of the chain by two points, something that has not been met.

A clause in the contract with Shine Iberia specifies that RTVE "reserves the right to maintain or unilaterally alter the broadcast conditions of the program, and even to suspend or cancel its broadcast or production" in the event that the audience data is maintained for below his goal for four consecutive programs.

It should be noted that the 12 Cover Night galas have already been recorded. Although the first premiered with an 11.9% audience share, the second dropped to 6.5%, losing approximately half of the viewers. The fifth, which could be seen on Saturday, April 1, scored a 5.6% share.
