The 1 had planned to offer a new installment of MasterChef 11 starting at 10:45 p.m. on the night of Tuesday, April 4. However, RTVE decided to suspend its broadcast at the last moment and move it to another day of the week.
The reason for this change is related to the Copa del Rey match between Athletic Club de Bilbao and Osasuna. The match started late and the draw between the two teams meant that it was extended beyond 90 minutes with extra time. Therefore, the aforementioned format would have ended in the wee hours of the morning if it had been broadcast.
José Pablo López, general content director at RTVE, announced at 11:10 p.m.: "Due to the delay we suffered at the start of the Copa del Rey match and the need to play extra time, out of responsibility to the spectators, we moved the broadcast of MasterChef next Sunday at 10:00 p.m. Next, we will broadcast the movie El Pacificador".
Minutes later, La 1's Twitter account published a video with the same message, which was also read by the party commentator. "Due to the delay in the start and the dispute over the extension, MasterChef will be next Sunday," he said.
If there are no more changes to the chain's grid, followers of the culinary 'talent show' will be able to enjoy three days in a row with new deliveries in 'prime time'. To that of Sunday, April 9, those already scheduled for Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 will be added.
RTVE had announced that the next installment of MasterChef 11 was going to show the applicants at the Oceanogràfic in Valencia. In the team event they will have to prepare a menu by chef Rakel Cernicharo with dishes that pay tribute to the marine world. 120 aquarium workers will be diners.
The elimination test will focus on food ranges. Each black-aproned contestant will have to cook with certain limitations on her ingredients. In addition, she will return to the Isabelle Junot set after her passage through MasterChef Celebrity 7.
