The weather week in a quick check: November banishes late summer

After almost summery temperatures in October, the change comes in November: From Wednesday it will be significantly colder and rainier in Germany. Sahara dust, brought by the mild air from North Africa, then settles as blood rain, as ntv meteorologist Björn Alexander explains.

After the last weekend in October was at a record level in terms of temperature, it will be very mild again on Monday. It's no longer enough for the extreme peaks of over 27 degrees. However, at 15 to 22 degrees, it is still far too warm. The last hint of late summer then blows out of us pretty quickly in November. It's getting noticeably more autumnal, partly wet, windy and cooler. In short: the lows take over the weather patterns.

With the turnaround, the Sahara dust is washed out, which the very mild air from North Africa brought us with it. So far only perceptible as a cloudy veil in the sky in some parts of the country, the dust falls with the rain. So-called blood rain is the result. The dust on windows and cars in particular is evidence of the origin of the record air mass.

The question that remains is which trends the longer-term computer models currently promise for November 2022. Will we need the heater more often? In any case, that's pretty certain. Because the combination of cooler air and rain clouds makes it generally more uncomfortable. However, some of the weather computers see turbulent times ahead of us - repeatedly with very mild air masses and an increased risk of storms. The bottom line is that the experimental long-term forecasts ultimately rate November 2022 as having above-average temperatures. So now for a quick run-through for the new weather week.

Monday: Cloud fields spread

Due to the proximity to Hoch "Zacharias" it stays beautiful in the southeast and east for a long time away from the fog. In the rest of the region, however, the clouds are denser. However, some rain falls only occasionally - most likely in the west and north-west. Temperatures are dropping, dropping to 15 degrees on the coast and up to 22 degrees in the east.

Tuesday: November starts with a mixed outlook

The next clouds with some showers will follow from the west. In addition, the wind is picking up in the northwest - it definitely feels more autumnal. It will remain friendly and dry for longer towards the south-east. The whole thing at 15 to 21 degrees.

Wednesday: Cooler and more volatile

In addition to clouds and downpours, we can also expect a few looser sections. In addition, it is preferably windy in the middle and in the north. There are strong to stormy gusts on the coast and on the mountains. And the temperatures at 12 to 17 degrees continue to nestle up to the autumn level.

Thursday: Partly quite uncomfortable

In the western half it is often grey, windy and sometimes wet, while the east gets through the day more beautifully. In addition, the maximum values reach between 11 and 16 degrees.

Friday: Rain reaches the east

Friday brings balancing justice. Because the rain is moving east. On the other hand, the chances of longer dry and at times sunny sections are increasing in the west. When it comes to temperatures, the following applies: the next cold front is here and we really feel that with a maximum of 6 to 13 degrees.

Weather at the weekend with light and shadow

Even if the details are still uncertain, it could well be enough for a few hours of sunshine. With luck, a high could settle down with us in between. However, the lows are not too far away on either side, so it should be a little lottery game between cloud fields and fog. The temperatures are still moderate, especially on Saturday, with mostly 8 to 14 degrees. Sunday could then be a bit milder. Single-digit temperatures await us at night and ground frost is knocking on the door in the mountains.
