Cate Blanchett will be an activist antifeminista real in the mini-series Mrs. America

In his debut on u.s. television, Cate Blanchett will give life to the controversial Phyllis mrs. schlafly, activist and conservative politics of the Republican Party. The cable network FX has given the green light to Mrs. America, a mini-series of nine episodes inspired by the real history of the movement to ratify the Amendment of Equal Rights in the decade of the 70's.

According to Deadline, Blanchett construed to the above-mentioned mrs. schlafly, famous for her opposition to feminism, abortion and marriage between persons of the same sex. Mrs. schlafly did everything possible to stop the Amendment of Equal Rights, known by its acronym ERA (Equal Rights Amendment), whose purpose was to guarantee equal rights for women. Although it was passed by Congress, this proposition was never able to be ratified.

Mrs. America will have this tumultuous period through the eyes of mrs. schlafly and other women of the era as the feminist Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, Shirley Chisholm, Bella Abzug, and Jill Ruckelshaus. Mrs. schlafly went on to say about Friedan: "I would like to burn you at the stake", so that the conflicts in the narrative are insured.

The scriptwriter of Mad Men and Halt and Catch Fire Davhi Waller will be the showrunner of miniseries. The very Blanchett, Stacey Sher (Django unchained, Erin Brockovich, Into The Badlands), and Coco Francini (The hateful eight) shall serve as executive producers under the umbrella of FX Productions. Mrs. America will begin to be recorded at the beginning of 2019.

"This country is discussing the rights of women literally 100 years. This story is so timely and relevant in the times we live in as it was during the tumultuous and passionate about the time period in which it took place," said Sher on the project.

As noted at the start, Mrs. America will be the first television series of Blanchett in the united States. The award-winning actress, the practice has developed all his career in film, winning two Oscars for her work in Blue Jasmine and The aviator. Other top titles of his films include Elizabeth, the lord of The rings, The curious case of Benjamin Button, I'm Not There, and Ocean's 8.
