Many people still shy away from purchasing a drinking water soda maker. But that is not necessary, because in the Öko-Test test all devices made a good impression and do not contain any problematic pollutants. But which sparkling water maker particularly stood out?
Ah, that refreshes! If you prefer to drink sparkling water, you don't necessarily have to carry heavy boxes. The testers from Öko-Test took a close look at seven sparkling water makers and have good news: no questionable residues or pollutants were found in the sparkling water.
Tap water in Germany has a very high quality and at a very reasonable price. This quality is not altered by the use of drinking water bubblers. The tap water is only transformed into sparkling water. This "certificate of no objection" applies to all devices in the test.
The "Sodastream Duo" at a price of 179 euros took first place with a "very good". Basically, the testers have only minimal points of criticism. Since the device only has very small rubber nubs on the bottom, the slip resistance is not quite optimal. Another criticism is that the operating instructions contain no information about replacing and cleaning the seals. And anyone considering buying the test winner needs to know that Sodastream has introduced a new system for the carbon dioxide cylinders. With the so-called Quick Connect, the carbon dioxide container is levered in and not - as before - screwed in. This means that the usually cheaper replacement containers from the supermarket or drugstore with a screw thread no longer fit.
Apart from one exception, all other sparkling water makers scored "good" in the test. Points were only deducted in the practical test – i.e. in handling and safety.
The "Brita Wassersprudler Soda One" can be highlighted as a price-performance winner. At EUR 64.99, this sparkling water maker is the least burden on the household budget. At the bottom of the test is the "Sodapop Premium Water Soda Maker Harold". This device was the least convincing with a "satisfactory". There were deductions for the somewhat shaky stand and for the fact that the CO₂ cylinder has to be screwed in very tightly for the device to work properly.
