Marvel announced a lot of news during the Comic-Con in San Diego: Among other things, the title and the start date of the fourth "Captain America" film are now certain. The strip is called "Captain America: New World Order" (in German: "New World Order") and will be in cinemas on May 3, 2024, as reported by "Entertainment Weekly" among other things. The film is part of the fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), which begins with "Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania" in February 2023 and ends with "Thunderbolts" in summer 2024.
Julius Onah (39) will direct "Captain America: New World Order", as the "Hollywood Reporter" reported in early July. The film is set after the events of the Disney series "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier", in which Anthony Mackie (43) as Sam Wilson aka Falcon takes on Captain America's shield and suit. In the fourth part of the Marvel series, Mackie will therefore take on the lead role.
Chris Evans (41) recently dismissed speculation about a return as Captain America. The actor clarified via Twitter that his "Avengers" character Steve Rogers is no longer the legitimate bearer of the famous shield. This honor is now exclusive to Sam Wilson. The "Hollywood Reporter" had previously speculated about a return of the old Captain America. The actor responded on Twitter by saying, "Sam Wilson is Captain America."
Chris Evans has played Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, in seven films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2011. In the final Avengers film, Endgame, Steve Rogers sheds the superhero burden and hands over the shield to Sam Wilson.
