Action close to security conference: climate stickers fail because of the Munich police

Because the eyes of the world are currently on Munich, where numerous heads of state and government are discussing the security situation, the "last generation" wants to set its own topic there. But the planned sticking campaign fails. This time the police are faster.

On the fringes of the Munich Security Conference, climate activists tried to stick themselves on a street in the city center. Police forces had been able to prevent the blockade, according to a spokesman. The four activists were not taken into custody after the action - although the police had requested this from two of them. The competent judge rejected the application.

The incident had apparently already occurred on the opening day of the conference on Friday. The criminal police are investigating on suspicion of attempted coercion. Otherwise, the night was quiet, according to the police. Two activists had previously glued themselves to the red carpet at the Berlinale on Thursday.

In Munich until Sunday, 40 heads of state and government and almost 100 ministers will primarily discuss how the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine can be ended. Among others, US Vice President Kamala Harris, French President Emmanuel Macron and Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz will take part in the expert meeting on security policy.

The Munich Security Conference will be accompanied by protests and demonstrations this weekend. Around a dozen events related to the meeting have been registered for Saturday alone. Several thousand participants are expected.
