Against frontline breakthroughs: London observes "Dragon's Teeth" near Mariupol

As a battle for Kherson looms, Russia is strengthening its lines in all occupied territories, British intelligence reports. Concrete anti-tank defenses are being erected around Mariupol to prevent Ukrainian liberation attacks.

According to British military experts, the Russian occupying forces in Ukraine are preparing for Ukrainian breakthroughs along the front. For this purpose, among other things, defense systems have been set up around the occupied southern Ukrainian port of Mariupol, according to the daily intelligence update on the Ukraine war from the Ministry of Defense in London.

According to the British, pyramid-shaped anti-tank structures made of concrete, the so-called dragon teeth, are currently being produced in two plants. The dragon's teeth were probably placed between Mariupol and the village of Nikolske, and between northern Mariupol and the village of Staryi Krym.

According to the secret service, this is probably intended to prevent rapid Ukrainian advances in the event of a front breakthrough. As part of a land bridge to the occupied Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, Mariupol is of particular strategic importance.

According to the statement, Russia is also strengthening its lines in all occupied territories. On October 19, for example, the head of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, reported the construction of a fortified "Wagner Line" in the Luhansk region occupied by Russia. The installations, built deep behind the current front line, are designed to prevent rapid Ukrainian advances in the event of a breakthrough.

Meanwhile, a battle for Cherson is becoming increasingly apparent. According to London, the "dragon teeth" should also be on their way there. Ukrainian troops are advancing in the region around the capital of the same name. According to Kyiv, a Russian ammunition depot, an air defense system and tanks were hit and 32 Russian soldiers were killed. The Ukrainian attack took place in the Beryslav district.
