WASHINGTON D.C. -- Officials said Friday that authorities are looking at reinstalling the Capitol fence in preparation for a possible trucker convoy protest next month during President Joe Biden’s State of the Union.

This is the same fence that was around Capitol for several months after Jan. 6 riiot, and during the "Justice for J6” rally.

A Capitol Police spokesperson said that the agency was in close contact with Secret Service to develop a plan for March's speech.

The spokesman stated that the temporary inner-perimeter fencing was part of ongoing discussions. However, it is still an option. At this point, no decision has been taken.

The agency stated in an earlier statement that it was working with law enforcement agencies and Washington D.C. National Guard.

The agency stated that the USCP would facilitate First Amendment activity, "as with all demonstrations."

This announcement was made as Ottawa, Ontario, authorities began to arrest "Freedom Convoy", protesters who have occupied a part of the country’s capital for weeks over Covid-19 regulations and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's policies.

Last week, authorities took down a blockade that prevented trade between Detroit and Windsor (Canada) and made a few dozen arrests. They also seize five vehicles.

On Wednesday, a separate blockade was lifted in Manitoba.

Anti-vaccine groups in the United States, former President Donald Trump's supporters, and followers of the QAnon conspiracy theory sought to duplicate the protests at the border.

provided details on far-right chat groups and explained in a bulletin by the Department of Homeland Security. The groups tried to block traffic during Super Bowl Los Angeles, but were unable organize it in time.

According to the bulletin, the attempt was described as "aspirational" and stated that the convoy intended to disrupt the game of football before heading towards the capital.
