City center explosions: Russia flies drone strikes on Kyiv

Russia attacks Ukraine's capital Kyiv again. Apparently drones are used. Two administration buildings are said to have been hit, but there is no information about victims yet. The "International Rescue Committee" believes that the humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine will continue to worsen.

There were several explosions in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv in the morning. Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the explosions on Telegram without giving details. "The rescue services are on duty, details later." According to him, they happened in the central Shevchenkivsky district. According to initial findings, two administration buildings in the center were damaged, city authorities said.

According to Ukrainian media reports, Russia's armed forces flew drone attacks on the three-million metropolis and its surroundings. The authorities said the air defense was deployed. According to Klitschko, ten drones were shot down. They are said to come from Iranian production. The information cannot be independently verified. In the past, however, numerous drones from Iran have been used for attacks on Ukrainian cities.

There were air raids in the capital, the surrounding area and in Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia. Nothing is known about possible damage and casualties.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) currently ranks Ukraine tenth on its list of countries with the greatest risk of a further worsening of the humanitarian crises. Fighting in Russia-attacked Ukraine is expected to continue, further destroying the already damaged infrastructure and driving even more people to flee, the report said.

According to the IRC, it has been compiling the annual list since 2012, for which it compiles data from numerous institutions and expert assessments. This time, half of the top ten places are occupied by African countries. At the top is Somalia, which is suffering from a devastating drought and frequent attacks by the Al-Shabaab terrorist militia.
