Liverpool FC is not for sale, according to owner John Henry. The 73-year-old American told the "Boston Sports Journal" in an interview by email: "Are we going to sell LFC? No." However, Henry confirmed in the interview that they would be in talks with investors about the 2019 Champions League winner, who is coached by Germany's Jurgen Klopp.
With his investment company Fenway Sports Group, also owner of the American baseball team Boston Red Sox, he bought the traditional club from the English Premier League in 2010. In November last year it was announced that the Fenway Sports Group was open to offers. According to "The Athletic", experts estimate the sales value at over five billion dollars (approx. 4.8 billion euros) - more than ten times the amount that FSG paid for the takeover.
In the interview, Henry said that while he believed something would happen at the English football club, it would not be a sale. It is quite possible that the Reds are investing in the sporting future. According to information from "The Athletic", Eintracht Frankfurt's sports director Markus Krösche is a possible candidate for the vacant post as sports director at Liverpool FC. At the LFC, the previous sports director Julian Ward announced his departure at the end of the season last November. Since then, the Reds have been looking for a successor.
Liverpool, who won the FA Cup and League Cup last season, reached the Champions League final and finished runners-up in the English Premier League, have failed to live up to expectations this season.
