"We condemned this form of controls and have already lodged a complaint with UEFA about what we believe to be the harsh admission procedure," said RB after the clear win against Donetsk, describing the admission controls as "disproportionate". Among other things, fans are said to have been "shone in their underwear with a flashlight", according to an RB message.
In addition, several fans were asked to "take off their scarves during the controls". According to the club, they were not allowed to resume this after the controls. "Two people were also taken into custody as part of the controls," as RB confirmed. The club is already in contact with the German embassy in Warsaw - "in case these RBL fans have to stay in Warsaw overnight," it said. The "Bild" quotes the press spokesman of the Ukrainian top club, they "are examining the allegations, but can't say anything more specific at the moment."
Leipzig advanced to the round of 16 of the Champions League with a 4-0 (1-0) win over Donetsk. Shakhtar plays his home games in the premier class in Warsaw because of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine.
