Strong performance with battery: Tineco Pure One S15 Pro is a smart mammal

The cordless vacuum cleaner Tineco Pure One S15 Pro convinces with a strong suction power, offers a very good automatic mode and is versatile. However, larger apartments may require an additional removable battery, and the device is quite expensive.

Cordless vacuum cleaners have long had the reputation of being only stopgap solutions with weak suction power. This is still the case for many devices. But as the Stiftung Warentest found out in the summer, some cordless devices are now hot on the heels of their corded counterparts, and some can even keep up. This also applies to the Tineco Pure One S15 Pro, which was able to convince almost all along the line in the practical test by ntv.de.

The vacuum cleaner is quickly assembled and ready for use. It is normally used as a floor vacuum cleaner, but can also be used as a handheld vacuum cleaner. In addition to a self-rotating turbo brush for floors, the manufacturer also supplies a mini turbo brush for upholstered furniture and similar objects. Its roller also rotates independently. Other accessories included are a soft dusting brush and a crevice nozzle. All three extra attachments can be placed on the vacuum cleaner's charging docking station.

The Tineco Pure One S15 Pro has a dust container that holds about half a liter. There is a large color display on the motor, a touch surface and a touch button on the top of the handle. The replaceable battery is on the underside.

The device, which weighs a little more than 3 kilos, feels good in the hand. It's easily started and stopped with a trigger for your index finger, and basically, that's all you need. The automatic mode of the vacuum cleaner, which is set as standard, uses a sensor to determine very well what power is required. In the practical test, it was actually never necessary to set the suction strength manually.

If this is necessary, you can swipe over the touch surface and adjust the performance in six levels. Alternatively, you can tap the touch button to switch between auto mode and maximum suction power. The button also exits manual mode.

You can see what you are doing on the display and a voice will notify you of any change. On the screen you can also see a nicely animated guide when you start it up for the first time. If there are problems, if the battery is about to run out or if the filter needs to be cleaned, you can see and hear it too. This is mostly fun - but either of the two or a simple text ad would also suffice.

In most cases, the WLAN function and the associated app are not necessary. In the attractively designed application, you can see, among other things, the exact battery status and the estimated filter service life or call up statistics. It is also possible to set the operating mode and set up a cleaning schedule. Basically, you only need them for software updates or a language change.

All of this would only be superfluous gimmicks if the cleaning performance were mediocre. But that is absolutely not the case. In automatic mode, the Tineco Pure One S15 Pro not only effortlessly vacuumed hard floors sparkling clean, but also showed a strong performance on carpeted floors, which even made a fairly new corded, bagless Bosch vacuum cleaner look old.

On the one hand, this was due to the fact that the Tineco did not cling to the ground like its "competitor", but went to work in a controlled manner. Nevertheless, he also cleaned better. He easily vacuumed the "test mess" consisting of flour, coffee powder, rice, fluff and hair from the carpet. With a long-pile rug, it was a bit more difficult, but this applies to all vacuum cleaners. And compared to the Bosch vacuum cleaner, the Tineco Pure One S15 Pro also excelled in this discipline.

On the one hand, it owes this to a strong suction power, but above all to the cleverly designed turbo brush. The bristles on the rotating roller are positioned in such a way that they pick up hair and lint very well, but do not tangle themselves. If the situation does get hairy, the accessories include a cleaning tool with a blade and brush.

If you look for a hair in the soup, you can criticize the cleaning performance on edges. The roller doesn't reach there, and to get it really clean there, you have to set it to the highest level or switch to the crevice nozzle. Otherwise, the turbo brush is very flexible and flat enough to vacuum under dressers, for example.

With the small turbo brush, the Tineco Pure One S15 Pro also impressed on upholstered furniture. If you remove cobwebs on the wall, however, your arm can quickly become lame. As a hand-held vacuum cleaner, the cordless vacuum cleaner weighs almost 2 kilos.

It is not only good for allergy sufferers that the device with a five-stage filter does not pollute the air. On the contrary: With a HEPA filter as the final stage, it keeps 99.9 percent of allergens back according to the manufacturer. A test with a room air sensor confirmed this. It is not necessary to replace used filters; thorough cleaning with a damp cloth or water is usually sufficient.

Emptying the dust container is also a clean affair. You simply hold it over the trash can, push a lever and the bottom flap opens. You may have to do this more than once per cleaning day, since half a liter is not a very large capacity.

The mileage is okay if you let the vacuum cleaner work in the economical auto mode. The device then lasts for 20 to 30 minutes, depending on how dirty it is. That's easily enough for smaller apartments, Tineco specifies a maximum of 130 square meters. For more complicated floors or larger areas, however, it is advisable to purchase a second battery. It takes almost four hours to charge a battery in the docking station from 0 to 100 percent.

All in all, the Tineco Pure One S15 Pro is really an exceptionally good cordless vacuum cleaner that cleans very effectively and easily, also cuts a fine figure as a handheld device and offers interesting extras. However, it costs around 600 euros, as much as the test winner at Stiftung Warentest.
