Baden-Württemberg: warning strike of the train drivers' union: failures

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Numerous train passengers in the southwest were affected by warning strikes by the German Locomotive Drivers' Union (GDL) on Thursday morning. Trains were canceled in the Stuttgart network in particular, said Joachim Barth from the Pro Bahn passenger association. There are restrictions on the routes from Stuttgart to Heilbronn, Heidelberg, Pforzheim and Tübingen.

Work was due to stop early Thursday between 3 a.m. and 11 a.m., according to the union. The regional traffic of the Südwestdeutsche Landesverkehrs-GmbH (SWEG) and the SWEG Bahn Stuttgart GmbH (SBS), the former railway company Abellio Rail Baden-Württemberg, are affected.

The background to the warning strike is a dispute between GDL and SWEG. On Sunday, union boss Claus Weselsky had already threatened that strikes were planned from Monday if the state-owned company was not prepared to negotiate a uniform wage agreement for all employees. SWEG rejects this.
