Bavaria: Desired rain should fall more frequently by the weekend

For months, people in many regions have been complaining about drought. At least some relief is in sight now. In the next few days there will be repeated thunderstorms and showers, then a little more rain at the weekend.

Munich (dpa / lby) - In Bavaria it should remain mostly warm in summer, but at least the rain that many are longing for could fall a little more frequently in the coming days. Accordingly, the German Weather Service (DWD) announces muggy and warm weather this week.

In the middle of the week in particular, it should initially reach daily high temperatures of more than 30 degrees, after which the mercury column will drop by around five degrees. According to the trend, at the beginning of the weekend on Friday there should be longer rainfall again.

On Wednesday, with up to 33 degrees, it is supposed to be the warmest day in eastern Bavaria, but it is also the start of a change in the weather. Initially, there would be "sun more often, but more and more clouds as the day progressed," announced the DWD.

On Thursday, people in Bavaria will have to prepare for a mix of showers, thunderstorms and some sun. In the Oberallgäu, the temperatures should then only rise to 21 degrees, otherwise it should be muggy at 23 to 29 degrees.

The more changeable and no longer midsummer weather is expected in the second half of the week not only in Bavaria, but throughout Germany. Meteorologists predict that this will increase the chances of gradually reducing the drought and reducing the risk of forest fires, which has been high up to now.

In many regions of the Free State, the soil is currently bone dry, the water levels are low and some have already dried up. The fire brigades also have to regularly respond to field and forest fires.
