Holzheim (dpa / lby) - A 58-year-old cut off parts of two fingers in an accident at work in Holzheim (Donau-Ries district). The employee of a company in the Pessenburgheim district grabbed his right hand into a scoop for processing bird seed on Thursday, the police said on Friday. The machine was equipped with a circular, fast-running blade disc.
In order to reach into the device, the man bypassed the safety precautions attached to the machine, it was said. Contact with the knife disk cut off the first joint of his little finger and half of his ring finger. After medical first aid, the 58-year-old came to an accident clinic by rescue helicopter.
