New chief inspector in Munich: Johanna Wokalek gets on at "Polizeiruf 110".

After Verena Altenberg's surprising farewell, Bayrischer Rundfunk quickly finds a successor for the "Polizeiruf 110" investigator: Johanna Wokalek plays the new Munich detective chief Cris Blohm. For her first case, she is already in front of the camera.

The actress Johanna Wokalek plays the new investigator in Munich's "Polizeiruf 110". As announced by Bayrischer Rundfunk, she will succeed Verena Altenberger as Elisabeth "Bessie" Eyckhoff as Chief Inspector Cris Blohm. "At a time when some things are becoming more confusing or more and more 'watered down', I am particularly happy to be part of this Munich gem. And I've never been swimming in the Isar either. It's about time!" Wokalek said accordingly her new role.

The 47-year-old is already in front of the camera for the crime series. According to the broadcaster, filming began this week on the new case "Little Boxes", directed by Dror Zahavi. Stefan Weigl's screenplay leads Cris Blohm to the Munich university milieu after a foreign assignment. While investigating the death of a graduate student, she comes across allegations that the murder victim was a rapist who received his "just" punishment. In the difficult investigations with her colleagues Dennis Eden (Stephan Zinner) and Otto Ikwuakwu (Bless Amada), Blohm does not get any further at first. Filming is expected to be completed by August 12th. It will not be broadcast until next year and is planned for the second half of the year.

Wokalek has made a name for herself in several major roles over the past decades, for example as the leading actress in the blockbuster "Pope Joan" by Sönke Wortmann, in the Schweiger film "Barfuss" and as Gudrun Ensslin in "The Baader Meinhof Complex" by Uli Edel. The actress has also appeared several times in "Tatort".

About a week ago it was announced that Altenberger was getting off at the Munich police call number 110. In autumn she will be in front of the camera again as Elisabeth "Bessie" Eyckhoff for a case with the working title "Paranoia". The whole thing is then expected to be broadcast in the first half of 2023.
