Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the corona incidence for North Rhine-Westphalia as 375.0 on Wednesday morning. The number of new corona infections reported within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants in NRW is currently higher than the national average. Among the ten districts and urban districts in Germany with the highest values, there are currently five from NRW alone. The RKI gave the nationwide seven-day incidence on Wednesday morning at 294.1. Four weeks ago, the incidence in NRW was significantly higher at 643.0.
In the most populous federal state, 12,828 confirmed new cases and 37 deaths related to the corona virus were added within 24 hours. The RKI reported the highest incidence in NRW on Wednesday for the city of Solingen, which has the second highest value nationwide with an incidence of 600.2. According to the RKI, the Minden-Lübbecke district (587.4), the city of Leverkusen (569.4), the Warendorf district (545.3) and the Borken district (534.3) are also among the ten districts and independent cities nationwide the current highest values. The city of Duisburg has the lowest incidence in NRW with 168.2.
However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
