North Rhine-Westphalia: embankment fire on the railway embankment in Oberhausen

Oberhausen (dpa / lnw) - An embankment fire on a railway embankment triggered a major alarm at the fire brigade in Oberhausen. Several embers burned on Monday evening, spread over about 1000 square meters of steep terrain, as the fire brigade announced. The railway embankment bordered on a hardware store, which, however, could be protected from the flames. Neither visitors nor employees were endangered. According to the fire brigade, the fire was quickly extinguished, with around 54 emergency services on site. The railway line was partially closed for about an hour and a half. The cause of the fire was initially unknown. The police are investigating.
