North Rhine-Westphalia: snow and ice in the Weserbergland and Paderborn: many accidents

Paderborn/Höxter (dpa/lnw) - Snow and ice on the roads in the Weserbergland and around Paderborn caused many accidents at the beginning of the week. After slippery roads, there were 50 accidents each in the Paderborn and Höxter districts. Most of the time, according to the reports, there was damage to the bodywork.

Cars, buses and trucks went off the road. At times nothing worked on uphill stretches. A tanker truck blocked traffic on a country road near Lichtenau. He had turned sideways and had to be pulled off the road.

In Paderborn, a car rammed into a power distribution box. There was a power outage in the surrounding streets. At Höxter, a truck and an articulated bus without passengers had slipped. The roads had to be closed for several hours until the bus was pulled out of the ditch.

Some of the drivers were still on summer tires, as the police in Paderborn complained.
