Ashley Graham not only stands up for body positivity professionally as a plus-size model, but also campaigns for it privately. She has repeatedly uploaded unembellished photos of herself in recent years, including during her pregnancies.
It's been a year since her twins were born, but she still has stretch marks. And the 35-year-old shows it again on Instagram. The photo shows the beginning of her bare breasts as well as her stomach, which she grips tightly with both hands. She refrains from commenting on this, because everything is already said with the photo.
So much honesty is well received, and so there are a lot of praising and grateful comments under the post. "The most real thing we know!" writes her friend and make-up artist Katie Jane Hughes, for example. Another user wishes she had seen more photos like this when she was younger. She might have developed a different feeling for her body.
The picture has since garnered more than 600,000 likes and countless similar comments, all of which wish for more "realistic models" like Graham. She is open about her rolls of bacon and makes it clear that pregnancy leaves its mark.
Ashley Graham gave birth to son Isaac in 2020 before giving birth to twins Malachi and Roman in January 2022. A few months later, she released a video to encourage other women: "Post this video for all the moms whose characters haven't 'returned to their original form' and maybe never will. And for everyone who need to be reminded that your body is beautiful in its actual form," she wrote at the time along with a clip of her wearing white underwear on the set of a photo shoot.
