Saxony: Minister of the Interior Schuster is campaigning for a high turnout

Dresden (dpa / sn) - Interior Minister Armin Schuster (CDU) called on the Saxons to actively participate in the local elections on Sunday. "A high turnout strengthens the position of those elected and thus local democracy," explained Schuster on Thursday. The district administrators and mayors are at the top of the administrations. In doing so, they make decisions that have a direct impact on the local people. "So it doesn't matter who does it."

New mayors and mayors are elected in 185 towns and communities, including the state capital of Dresden. In addition, the voters in nine districts decide on a new district administrator. If no applicant achieves half of the valid votes at the first attempt, there will be a second ballot in July. The term of office lasts seven years.
