A man dies when he was dragged by a wave while trying to rescue a dog in Asturias

A man has died this Sunday at the beach of Los Foxos, in the Asturian municipality of Coaña, after being dragged by a wave and falling to the sea when he tried to rescue a dog that had previously fallen into the water, has reported the emergency service of the Principality (SEPA).

The Emergency Coordination Center of 112 Asturias received at 10:37 hours a call in which the man asked help to rescue the animal, who was taking the sea and who was already about five meters from the shore.

While the teams went to the place of the incident, a new call was received in which another interlocutor alerted that the person who was calling the dog had fallen into the water.

The person responsible for the local group of civil protection tried to reach the place aboard a pneumatic vessel, but the poor state of the sea prevented him from approaching, and the wave dragged the body towards the river of Navia, where the firemen managed to rescue him in an area From rocks, where, despite the resuscitation attempts that were made, the death could only be confirmed.
