The Association of Prosecutors has demanded this Saturday the immediate resignation of the State Attorney General, Dolores Delgado, by, in his opinion, lack of suitability for its direct origin of politics and its "erratic and sectarian".
After the celebration its XXIII Congress, held in Zaragoza during November 26 and 27, the Association has demanded the resignation of Delgado arguing that its decisions before the General Prosecutor's Office have caused "a serious damage to the prestige of the Fiscal Ministry" and That his permanence in office is "incompatible with the impartiality and constitutional principles that govern" at the institution.
The Association of Prosecutors - Mayoritary in the Fiscal Career - has already pronounced against Delgado due to the insufficient explanations given by the Prosecutor on the departure of the Ignacio Stampa prosecutor's office in October 2020.
In a statement collected by Europe Press, the Association asserts that the appointment and removal procedure of the State Attorney General has to guarantee the independence of the Government.
Thus, and defending the independence of the institution, the Association of Prosecutors claims, "before the evident crisis of credibility and the institutional irrelevance" of Delgado, a new Organic Statute that reinforces the autonomy of the Fiscal Ministry, "essential to assume the investigation with Guarantees, "reads the statement.
In this sense, they advocate that it becomes an appointment policy "motivated in the principles of merit and capacity" abandoning the "arbitrariness that prevails in the appointments of the State Attorney General".
Among other points, they require the increase and adequacy of the staff, establishment of maximum workloads, work prevention plan of the Fiscal Ministry, review of remuneration and productivity and updating diets, as well as a study of the professional categories of The prosecutors.
With all this, the Association of Prosecutors wants to "exalt and claim the rigorous work" of the members of the Tax Prosecutor who promote the action of justice "from impartiality and with full submission to legality."
