As of today, January 4, BlackBerry phones with operating systems 7.1, 10 or Playbook OS 2.1, or those who are previous, will stop working after the decision of the Canadian company to cease the service of these devices.

BlackBerry, who before Apple's domain and Android phones decided in 2015 to become a software company to leave the telephone production, has said that data functions, phone calls, text messages and emergency calls will stop working from "Reliable" form.

The company, which is considered the inventor of smartphones and that before the appearance of the Apple iPhone dominated the market, reported in December of the next purpose of services for these devices.

The Canadian company added its gratitude to the "Many customers and loyal partners" who has had during its history, which began in 1984 when Canadian businessmen Mike Lazaridis and Doug Fregin created the company Research in Motion (RIM).

In 1999 RIM launched a Messaging ("Pager") capable of sending and receiving emails as well as other notifications. The product was the first to labeled with the name BlackBerry.

When Apple threw its first iPhone in 2007, BlackBerry, with its physical keyboard, was the preferred phone of high executives, famous and politicians. In 2009, the Phones of the Canadian company supposed 20% of the "Smartphones" market.

The company continued betting on the physical keyboard and corporate clients while Apple did it for tactile screens without physical keyboard and individual consumers.

The pressure of iPhone and phones with Google's Android operating system quickly reduced sales of BlackBerry phones. In 2013, the company announced that it would change its name from RIM to Blackberry to try to relaunch your products.

But, only two years later, BlackBerry acknowledged that he could not compete with Apple and Android and announced that he would start a process to become a software company and stop producing phones.
