The government calls banks to offer empty houses to those affected by the volcano

The Government, through the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, has established talks with different banking entities so that they provide unoccupied housing to people affected by the Old Summit Volcano on the Canary Island of La Palma.

The government spokesman Isabel Rodríguez commented on Tuesday at the Press Conference after the Council of Ministers that the Executive maintains a "maximum commitment" in this emergency with different actions and revealed two of them thanks to the efforts made by the directed department By Nadia Calviño.

One is to engage in conversations with banking entities so that they will make available to the nearly 6,000 people who were empty so that they can be busy, before Rodríguez pointed out that banks have given "a very good response".

On the other hand, Rodríguez stressed that "an estimate of the damage caused nor can not be made of the completion of this eruption", while he added that when the lava reaches the sea, the release of gases will occur.

However, it indicated that, according to civil protection, about 6,000 people (50 of them with reduced mobility) have been evacuated and there are 183 affected homes, as well as around 200 infrastructures, including tennis courts and swimming pools.

Rodríguez stressed that, so far, no personal harm has occurred and air traffic continues to operate normally in the palm.

For this emergency they work 540 troops of the General Administration of the State (between civil guards, national and military police of the UME) and 650 belonging to autonomous or local administrations, before Rodríguez extolled the "collaboration" institutional.
