At the age of 28 years, his big smile, friendliness and self-confidence, no one could imagine that María Isabel Torrejón has two suicide attempts. With only 14 years she was diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (ailment suffered by the 3% of the world population). His adolescence was a real roller-coaster of sensations and emotions. Internal struggles between what I had and what I wanted to be.
During his participation in the Commemoration of the World Day of Suicide Prevention, organized by the Phone from Suicide, and held in the Assembly of Madrid, this young man stated that there was a time in your life in which disease, and therefore despair, you were led to believe that the best thing would be to stop living. "Not just one, but two times I tried to die. Fortunately, I was saved. Life had been pending for me too many things, among them to teach me their beauty and appreciate the small, every day and every moment."
he Confesses that after years and years sick of OCD and depression, "not only got to be happy, that is not at all easy, but I managed to have a normal life. Lead a normal life after having OCD is difficult; after you have OCD+depression, what is still more; and, after having OCD+depression+2 suicide attempts... you can not imagine how much. Oh well, nothing is impossible!".
he has Also created his own brand called "encalvedeisa", an initiative that designs t-shirts, cups, etc, in which you insert your own phrases to try to motivate and to contribute to the non - dependency, to increase self-esteem,... "Was returned to me life is not only to give me lessons, but to help others to understand that life is worth the effort. For this reason, I like to convey a message of encouragement to people who are going through a bad time, as I went on. To those who think that life has no meaning, that you are a burden, or that everything will be fixed if desaparecéis, my message is that I also believed, from the depths of my being, that it was right. But it is not. Do not make the case to your mind. You are in a state that you can only move forward. Even if it is by inertia, you must continue living as one who follows the path to the house, gives equal and not have the urge. You can do heat, cold, rain.... You can stop, stomping her feet on the road, say you don't want to follow.... But, to get home, you must move forward a little bit. Run, walk, go, crawl, whatever you want! I already know that you do not have the desire, but you must do it. Things change".
This young man explained in his intervention that can give you these tips because she thought the same, "but the cure for that mental state, I could appreciate all that he thought was fake. That life was precious. That hope really existed. If I could, do you why not? —questioned—. I was a normal girl, San Fernando, Cadiz, sick of 14 to 24 years. If I could, why don't you plant face you? —insisted—. Shout to the world that there is hope. We cry that a mental patient can live a normal life, that after you have tried dying you can be happy. We cry against the stigma."
