On the evening of Thursday, July 7, to Friday, July 8, a dramatic accident took place on the D86 in Champagne. At around 5:15 a.m., a motorist struck a cyclist as he crossed the road via a pedestrian crossing.
The large rescue team included firefighters from Serrieres and Andance as well as the Smur from Annonay and Samu 26-07 helicopters.
The victim, a man in his 50s and suffering from injuries, later died. The driver, who was shocked, was taken to the Annonean hospital. The Annonay community of brigades opened an investigation.
