After the chef's partial confession: BR throws out Schuhbeck programs

With a surprising confession, Alfons Schuhbeck turns the tax lawsuit against him upside down. But at least at Bayerischer Rundfunk he does not receive any mitigating circumstances. The station is taking shows with the star chef out of the program for the time being.

After his partial confession before the Munich district court, star chef Alfons Schuhbeck will lose his shows on Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) television until further notice. The broadcaster confirmed a corresponding report from T-online.

"Due to current events, BR Fernsehen is taking the cooking programs with Alfons Schuhbeck out of the program for the time being," said the public institution. Accordingly, five episodes "Alfons

"No further recordings or broadcasts are currently planned," said a BR spokeswoman. Instead of the Schuhbeck broadcasts, the broadcaster will repeat several episodes from the cooking series "Simple. Good. Bachmeier". Schuhbeck's colleague Hans Jörg Bachmeier cooks in them.

Alfons Schuhbeck surprisingly confessed to the Munich I district court on Wednesday that he had deliberately manipulated sales in one of his restaurants and taken money from the tills. However, the 73-year-old denied such misconduct for another of his restaurants. Nevertheless, he admitted that he had "failed entrepreneurially" and that "my life's work was in ruins".

Schuhbeck is accused of having evaded taxes totaling around 2.3 million euros. If convicted, he faces imprisonment. The decisive factor in whether he has to go to prison is the amount of tax evasion that can be proven. The benchmark for imposing a prison sentence is one million euros.

Schuhbeck is one of Germany's best-known chefs, not least because of his TV appearances. Among other things, he runs three restaurants, an ice cream parlor, spice shops and a catering service in the heart of Munich. He has also written numerous cookbooks.
