Baden-Württemberg: "Candidate-O-Mat" for the mayor election goes online on Saturday

Heidelberg (dpa/lsw) - After Tübingen, a "Candidate-O-Mat" for the mayoral election is now also going online in Heidelberg: According to the state center for political education in Baden-Württemberg, the offer for the mayor election on November 6th will be this Saturday (10.00 a.m.) unlocked. Users can compare their own political positions with those of the candidates in order to draw conclusions for their voting decisions.

There are 30 local political theses to choose from. For example, the question is: Should the city no longer sell commercial space, but only lease it? Should public transport in Heidelberg be free for everyone? Should the city work to ensure that the state raises the hurdles for referendums? Should a work space for collectives, creative people and cultural workers be created on the former US Army airport "Airfield"?

The online decision-making aid developed by the state headquarters is not well received by everyone. Incumbent Eckart Würzner (independent) complained that the theses were not balanced and that the development by young people was problematic. The state headquarters cannot understand the criticism. The topics were researched seriously and well-founded with the support of experts.

In Tübingen, the questions in the "Candidate-O-Mat" were revised after massive criticism from incumbent Boris Palmer. There was a "need for post-processing", the state headquarters admitted.
