After the concert was canceled: concern for "Tiger" Tom Jones

At the age of 82, Tom Jones is on tour again, but now has to cancel a few concerts. The reason for this is a laryngitis, as he says on social media. At the same time, he denies rumors that he has suffered a breakdown.

Sir Tom Jones, nicknamed "Tiger", is still on stage at the age of 82. However, he had to cancel a concert at short notice due to health problems. The British singer was unable to perform in Budapest on Tuesday night. In a statement on Instagram, he apologized to the fans.

In the night from Monday to Tuesday he "woke up with an uncomfortable feeling in his throat". A doctor diagnosed Jones with "viral laryngitis", i.e. laryngitis caused by viruses. The specialist urgently advised him to postpone the concert and "prescribed me medication and voice rest".

Sir Tom Jones has also denied reports that he had a breakdown. "I never 'broke down' anywhere, it's purely a rumour," he said. Among other things, the "Daily Mail" had reported that Jones had allegedly suffered a breakdown about an hour before his concert. An unspecified source explained: "Tom Jones has collapsed so his concert tonight has been canceled and doctors have been called to the stadium."

"Hopefully the inflammation will subside soon as I look forward to continuing my wonderful summer tour," Jones said in a statement. His concert in Budapest will now be postponed to August 16th. The singer, who became famous with hits like "It's Not Unusual", "Sex Bomb" and "She's A Lady", is also coming to Germany on his tour. He performs in Fulda (July 20), Cologne (July 28), Kiel (August 6) and Halle an der Saale (August 7).

Tom Jones belongs to the category of musicians that also includes the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney. In their fast-paced lives, it often looked like they wouldn't live past 40, yet now that they're retired, they're still on stage. The fact that Jones is now over 80 years old is also a source of joy to his fans, who continue to flock to his concerts in droves.
