Baden-Württemberg: 81-year-old woman with dementia runs in front of the train and dies

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - An 81-year-old woman was run over by a train on Lake Constance and died. The severely demented woman left her retirement home in Überlingen (Bodenseekreis) on Saturday night and was then reported missing, the police said on Sunday. Several patrol cars and police dogs were looking for the woman until a train accident was reported. According to witness reports, the 81-year-old walked on the track bed right next to the railway tracks from Überlingen towards Sipplingen and was hit by an oncoming train. She died at the scene of the accident. The police assume an accident.
