Baden-Württemberg: 9-euro ticket: Bahn offers more space on trains

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The railway subsidiary DB Regio also wants to expand its capacities in the southwest for the start of the 9-euro monthly ticket in June. "On weekends and public holidays, DB uses larger vehicles with more seats," said Deutsche Bahn on Monday.

There will also be longer trains during the week. "Despite the increased space on the trains, it is not always possible to guarantee that you can take your bike with you," Deutsche Bahn reported.

DB had already announced that it would be sending more than 50 additional trains onto the rails nationwide from June 1st. The extra trains are to be used primarily along tourist routes.

At some train stations in the southwest there will be additional staff on the platforms, the railway said. The S-Bahn in Stuttgart is also strengthening its trains.

The so-called Murgtäler Freizeitexpress, which runs from the Rhine-Neckar region to the Black Forest, is not only on the road on Sundays and public holidays in June, July and August, but also on Saturdays.

With the tickets, passengers can travel throughout Germany on local public transport in June, July and August - for 9 euros per month. The advance sale has already started. With the offer, the federal government wants to relieve citizens in the face of inflation and also make switching to public transport more attractive.
