Baden-Württemberg: A "Ho Ho Ho" for parking offenders

Instead of getting annoyed about parking tickets, parking offenders in the small town of Aichtal will soon be able to look forward to Christmas greetings on the windscreen. The regulatory office wants to be lenient. However, there is not always a "Ho Ho Ho".

Aichtal (dpa/lsw) - The small town of Aichtal turns a blind eye to parking at Christmas time. Instead of a ticket and warning money, parking offenders will get Christmas greetings stuck to the windshield from December 6th. Many people are particularly stressed during the Christmas season, writes the city in the Esslingen district near Stuttgart. It can sometimes happen that the parking disc is forgotten when shopping. The "tickets" with the inscription "Ho ho ho - that just went well again" are available until the holidays.

However, this is not a free ticket for illegal parkers. "The police authorities only turn a blind eye to forgotten or expired parking discs," said Mayor Sebastian Kurz. Parking on fire brigade access roads, on sidewalks or in no parking areas would still be punished with a fine.
