Kirchberg/Jagst (dpa/lsw) - A trailer truck caught fire on Saturday on Autobahn 6 near Kirchberg/Jagst (Schwäbisch Hall district) for an unknown reason. According to the police on Sunday, the 47-year-old driver was able to steer the team onto the hard shoulder and leave it unharmed. The vehicle was already destroyed by the fire when rescue workers arrived. There was minor damage to the trailer. According to the police, the total amount of damage amounts to around 70,000 euros.
During the extinguishing work, the freeway was completely closed. For around four hours, only one lane was available for traffic in the direction of Heilbronn. Therefore, a traffic jam of several kilometers formed.
