Tübingen (dpa / lsw) - In Tübingen, the "Candidate-O-Mat" that has come under criticism for the mayoral election is starting this Saturday. The state center for political education had already checked off the online decision-making aid it had developed because of massive criticism from the incumbent Boris Palmer. From Palmer's point of view, irrelevant questions and legally unacceptable theses came up. Other applicants for the office, however, pleaded for a new attempt. The state center then published a revised catalog of questions. The state headquarters drew attention to the launch of the online instrument on Friday.
The playful application opens up the possibility of comparing one's own political positions with those of the candidates. 29 theses from different local political areas are available. The question is, for example, "Does the expansion of solar systems have priority over agriculture when using open spaces?" and "Shouldn't rents for city apartments be increased in the next ten years?". The possible answers are "yes", "no" and "neutral". By comparing your own viewpoints with those of the candidates, you will see with whom the agreement is greatest. Two women and four men stand for election in Tübingen on October 23.
On October 15, a "Candidate-O-Mat" for the local mayoral election on November 6 is also to be activated in Heidelberg. There, too, incumbent Eckart Würzner (independent), who, like Palmer, is running for re-election, took a hard stance on the state headquarters.
