Baden-Württemberg: DRK quickly calls for a social summit in the state

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - In view of the rising energy prices, the German Red Cross (DRK) has called for more support for social institutions. Managing director Marc Groß called for a social summit with trade unions, welfare organizations and politicians in Stuttgart on Friday to think about how support for those in need can be secured in the long term. There is a risk that, in the worst case, the relevant services could no longer be provided.

Groß said that it had to be clarified where financial help was needed. So far, green-black has rejected its own aid package. The state government wants to wait for a corresponding regulation from the federal government. Groß and DRK President Barbara Bosch criticized the country's attitude. Nursing homes, outpatient services or facilities for the disabled are under a lot of pressure. There the costs went up. These could not all be passed on to those affected. But food banks are also on the edge of their capacity.
