Heidelberg (dpa / lsw) - Fraudsters defrauded a senior citizen of a six-figure sum of money after a shock call in Heidelberg. As the police and prosecutors announced on Thursday, a male person first called the 82-year-old in the Hohenlohe district and pretended to be an employee of a law firm. The man claimed that the woman's daughter caused an accident and killed a child. In order to avoid jail time, the woman had to pay bail.
On the instructions of the scammer, the elderly woman drove to Heidelberg on Monday and handed cash and coins in a bag to a 20 to 25-year-old man out of a car. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
